An artist I am currently researching for my own studio is Todd Hiddo. He is a photographer that mainly shoots with SLR film cameras, where he edits and color grades all his work in the darkroom. Hiddo's work is especially attractive to me because of his conscious color palettes, the "iintimate distance" and tones he creates in his work are both erie and complex. Hiddo photographs the classic American suburbs but almost exclusively at night, at time when people wouldn't tradtionaltionally be viewing that setting. He depicts the homes but photographing most of them right on the outskirts on the lawn or fence, allowing the viewer insight, but not enough to give background or context to who is inside. The viewer feels so close yet so apart from these homes. It is truly an odd feeling. Hiddo prints all his work and scans his negatives digitally, he has made a book called "House Hunting" which may be one of my favorite photography books ever.
